Athanasios "Tom" Ladas

In recognition of Tom Ladas's volunteerism to the children of our community and in an effort to pass forward the ideals by which he lived, a scholarship fund has been established in Tom's memory. Through his many civic, educational and corporate activities, Tom touched all of our lives. Tom was:
- "Businessman of the Year" - 1996 presented by Parsippany Rotary Club
- President of Parsippany Soccer Club - Fought for Reynolds Avenue Soccer Fields
- Founder of Pfizer Education Initiative - The PEI is a corporate philanthropy program developed in 1990 to ensure that a talented new generation of scientists, technology experts, and engineers will be available in the future. Tom was the champion for this program at Pfizer's Parsippany site working closely with the Parsippany-Troy Hills school system. Some of the many programs developed under Tom's leadership are: Shadowing where students have the opportunity to spend time with a Pfizer scientist, Teacher Summer Internships, Minigrants for local schools, Speakers Presentations, Teacher Workshops and Scholarships for graduating seniors.
- Founder and President of the Parsippany Education Foundation A non-profit organization, directed by community leaders, business people, and educators, to enrich the opportunities and experiences available to students in the Parsippany-Troy Hills Public School District.
The Tom Ladas Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior from Parsippany High School and Parsippany Hills High School who best exemplifies the criteria established by the Board of Directors of this foundation and exhibits traits that Tom himself would have praised. The annual scholarship will begin being awarded to graduating seniors of the class of 2004.
